Celebrity Death Watch

+10, V

Good Morning :)

Well today is no different than any other day.  I get to work and quickly check my favourites, The shopping channel, TMZ because I am on the celebrity death watch of Zsa zsa Gabour.  No... I am not weird or anything, I just like to keep up on my celebrity news.  Speaking of which, Charlie Sheen has been pretty darn quiet these days.  It's really to bad!  I thought he was going to have a head shaving moment like Britney.

Anyway, this morning while checking my hotmail I went to my junkmail folder only to find some great spam such as, Penis Growth Free trials - Grow a long and hard one today, Sample mens supplement - Your love tool is set to thrill and last but not least, Enlarge with sample - she revealed herself to me.  I really think the spam senders should take it up a notch and try to send gender specific spam.

Well, last night was Tuesday and that means I usually have my friend (CC) come over but this week she is site seeing and shopping in the states.  with not much else to do I watched some PVR'd episodes of Chelsea Lately.  I honestly forgot how great her show is.  I know, I know (CS) you are probably freaking out because you tried to get me to watch this show forever.  It was always on way to late for this thirty something so know that I have a PVR there is no limits on what I can watch.

Not too much planned for this weekend, I really need to take it easy and not drink so much so I have decided to have my mother come in and visit.  Here is a little insight to how old I really am.... We are most likely going to go to the casino and play bingo on Saturday night.

Yes, this could be a huge reason as to why I am still single!

We did circuit training at boot camp lat night. I'm right handed and my left arm is notably weaker than my right arm. I'd never really noticed that until I was asked to do identical exercises on each side. I feel a little silly saying it but after only 4 sessions I actually feel stronger.

This Friday is shaping up to be hilarious. My friend is having a Richard Simmon's themed club night. Ever been to a club dressed up in fluorescent Lycra while everyone else is dressed to impress? It's awesome.

No new news about TB (texting boy...is that what I named him?...well, it's what he is now). I guess I'm waiting for him to initiate some sort of real life contact...we've never even met.

Tonight is V and my cooking date...hopefully we don't burn down her building.

The Busy Blogger

+10,V
Hey everyone, so sorry for not blogging last week.  I was sick on Monday and wasn't at work... No really, I was not well and a good friend of mine (C) came by and brought me some medicine, fruit and soup.  I really appreciated that.  I was actually already sick on Sunday.  By Monday night I felt much better and had to catch up for the missing day on Tuesday.  Everyday after that just seemed to be as busy and then the next thing I know it was Friday.

So let's start out with last weekend March 18 - 19.  On Friday I went home after work and relaxed for a while.  My friend (A) came by and picked me up and I ended up staying over the night and drinking an entire bottle of home made wine that night.  Thank you my married friends (K&T)  It was so delicious and over the entire night but OUCH did I pay for it the next day.  You really need to hydrate regularly if you go on a wine binge.

Saturday was another fun night in which I was in the company of quite a few ++10's.  I have to say that I think those women are crazy!!! I was worried about what was going to happen to me in another 10 years but after going to that garage party on Saturday and seeing those ladies in action, I have nothing to worry about.

Okay, like I said the week after that at work was really busy.  Now for this weekend March 25 - 27.

Went to a hockey game on Friday, went out for drinks after and then finally made it home around 1:30 a.m.  Saturday was a social where the only booze left at midnight was rye.  I really think I better stop drinking so much.  I think I really have to take it easy this upcoming weekend.

Starting today, I have decided I am going to eat much healthier.  I actually made this decision last week and made sure to eat a bunch or terrible food this weekend as it will be a while before I eat it again like that.  Let's hope it works.  I am not following a specific plan at this point but am going with the old eat more fruits and veggies, lean meats and little carbs.  If I can't seem to make it work and get nowhere then I will end up signing up for a more disciplined plan.

So far day one is a 6" turkey sub on whole wheat with a side of carrots and strawberries.  I know this is not a lot of food so far but I have a lot of other veggies planned for tonight with my dinner.

Friday night I went out with some girls. One of my roommates texted me to say that she had interesting news for me... she told me that a guy from her work was interested in me. Bottom line is that he doesn't know me at all, but she was talking about me blah blah blah.

So, when her and I and some other people went out later that night I was persuaded (though it didn't take much) to send him a text (he had given my roommate his number to give to me...). No response that evening. burn. I looked him up on facebook and I seriously love open profiles. They're awesome.

Saturday I slept in late and early afternoon I got a RESPONSE! He apologized for not texting back the night before but explained that he had to work early blah blah blah. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. TB (Texting Boy, I'll call him) and I kept up the text conversation from early afternoon to early morning. My day was filled with cooking and reading and going to a party, but we were texting back-and-forth all that time. We'll see if this leads anywhere. I was explaining all this to a friend of mine and she asked to see his fb profile and I signed on and he'd requested me as a friend.

We'll see how that all goes.

Boot camp is going well so far...I'm guessing tonight will be painful again, but it's a good kind of pain.

Coming Soon: V and I are cooking together this Wednesday -- should lead to a fun post

She's Back!

-10, J

How many jumping jacks can you do in a minute?

Doesn't sound that difficult to figure out, right? Well, it's not, but when you also are asked to find out how many crunches and push ups and squat jacks and a whole bunch of other stuff that I can't remember you can do in a minute you might experience the sensation of not being able to move certain parts of your body.

At least that's what happened to me. I actually don't remember doing the squat jacks...I literally blocked it out, which I've decided is just fine. If I can get fitter and not even remember the pain I'm cool with that. I'm enrolled in a 4 week class so you fine people that read this blog will get your fair share of my reflections on this odd phenomena of a multi-generational group of women who meet in a church gym to receive instruction from someone who refers to herself as "Sargent" (although most certainly has no military background).

Elizabeth Taylor died this week...you just never know when a celebrity is going to pass on.

-10, J

V has been so busy this week that she hasn't had time to write much of anything at all...she'll have to make up big time next week. Last night she had a dream that her and I were in a car accident which is scary...speaking of which, has anyone seen "Black Swan"? I saw about 10 minutes of it when some people were watching it in my apartment and I walked away because I was afraid that it would give me nightmares. Is it actually that scary, or is the build-up worse than the real thing?

V Withdrawl

-10, J

V sent me a text this morning to say that she was sick and wouldn't be coming to work today.

The hours have never dragged on so long.

I am having sympathy sickness (you know, when someone you know is sick so you also start feeling sick...). Anyway, maybe I'll have to stay home from work tomorrow to give V a taste of her own medicine.

My weekend report is bland (I can hear V's sarcastic voice "what a surprise"). A friend's birthday party on Friday night, dinner and a movie with friends on Saturday ("Just go with it" will make you wonder how Jennifer Anaston still looks so good). Oh, did I mention that the theatre was PACKED? Who knew this flick would be so popular? I'm not talking about packed like that time you went to see the Star Trek premiere (yes, I did that). I mean my friends and I literally sat in the front row. The image is significantly distorted from that angle.

The movie itself was fine, pretty much exactly what you'd expect. The screening began about 10 minutes later than it should have, because something was wrong with the projector. So, bonus, we didn't have to sit through the pre-show and we did get to see all the sweet trailers. Then double bonus we got a ticket to see a free movie. All things considered, a successful evening.

Maybe V will post an update from home...I have no idea how her weekend was *hint hint*.

Happy Monday!

Emergency Update

-10, J

I'm issuing this emergency update because V is laughing so hard at herself she's crying and snorting.

I would not make this up.

She has recorded herself speaking in an "Irish Accent" (which has been mistaken for East Indian) and has sent it to various people via BBM.

V just looked at a piece of cheese and practically fell on the floor laughing.

Now she's talking about giving prizes to people in the office who have the best Irish Accent and Leprechaun Impression.

There is a good chance that I'll 'forget' to pick her up on my way to work tomorrow.

New Boyfriend for J

+10, V
Nate Dogg is dead. D-E-A-D, dead. This is exactly why I check TMZ every day, I must know about any celebrity deaths (even the ones that are far far far from A-list). I thought it was bad enough that Mike Star (from Celebrity rehab) died, but now the Nate Dogg? I may have to take some time off.

In other news, I'm getting really excited for ST. PATRICK'S DAY, we've had shamrock window clings up for weeks now. The Easter ones will go up Friday. I'm running Shamrock Bingo out of the office at noon hour, and I've purchased gear for -10 and me (I'm making her wear it). I'm working on my Leprechaun accent (side note by -10, this is one of the more annoying sounds you will ever hear), and my Riverdance.

I'm just basically getting over the Bachelor finale. I'm so glad that he picked Emily.

*SPOILER ALERT* I heard next season's bachelorette is Ashley the dentist.

Tonight I'm excited to see my boyfriend, Boston Rob. This season's pool has 11 contestants and is going strong.

Basically nothing much else going on right now, the weather is finally warming up and I'm looking forward to getting out more and finding you all a new boyfriend for me to write about.

-10, J
It's true, there's a new man in my life. Ok, let's be honest, we've never met, and we live hundreds of kilometers away from each other but, why not flirt a bit?
We met in your typical fairy tale manner...I was a damsel in distress and he was my night in shining armour...it was magical...
So far there's nothing exciting to report about it other than the fact that I've dubbed him NB (New Boyfriend).

---

The day has started much the same as any other day...V checked The Shopping Channel (which has a super spy-esque scanner as today's show stopper), and TMZ to see if there are any new celebrity deaths.

J has added to her list of must-check deal websites:
  • WagJag.com
  • DealFind.com &
  • Kijiji Deal of the Day

+10, V

Found out yesterday one of my favourite people is coming to visit for Easter. Can't wait to go out Thursday night. Those of you who know me know exactly what's involved in Thursday nights. That will be one hell of a blog.

Weekend Report

-10, J

The trouble with surprise group events is that you have to trust a lot of people to keep their mouths shut.
Happily, the Friday surprise worked out well and we all enjoyed the martini bar followed by bowling (seriously, bowling is fun - glo bowling is even better).
If you're looking for a new TV show you should try Portlandia. Some episodes are much better than others, but who knows...maybe you'll fall in love and accept Portlandia for its weaknesses as well as its strengths.

Now that we've gotten J's boring weekend out of the way I have BIG TIME news about RLB. (Are you sitting down?...you probably are, but if you're not, you should).
As you know I visited my hometown this weekend and just after my friend and I got back into city limits I got a text from (you guessed it) RLB. I know, right? He was totally MIA for a week and a half (which, let's face it, is closer to 2 months in new-relationship-time). But, regardless, he asked me what I was up to that evening and IF I WANTED TO GET TOGETHER.
(pause for dramatic effect)

He actually used a question mark. This is uncharted behaviour for RLB so, naturally my interest was piqued. We texted back-and-forth a bit and after explaining that he wanted to talk about why he went MIA we agreed to meet at a restaurant near my apartment.

I had 2.5 hours to prepare myself so I got in touch with several of my girls (including J, of course) and I managed to determine appropriate attire, footwear, hairstyle, and several hypothetical reasons that he might give me.  I have to say that my friend A who was with me the first night I met RLB stated that she really didn't think I would like him and that I did have a bit to drink that night.

The time (7pm) finally came and I braved the cold to go meet RLB after two glasses of wine.

As soon as I got there and saw him I almost died!!!  He had blue faded jeans, white runners (not the cool kind) and a blue faded zip up hoodie with a soccer ball and the number 49 on it.  He also was not wearing a ball cap like the first time we met and let me say that he was in dire need of a haircut.

We sat down, ordered drinks and began small talk.  I will say that besides his clothing choice and hair he does really have a cute smile and nice eyes.  That just isn't enough for me though.

So... small talk, blah, blah, blah, another drink ordered blah, blah, blah and I decide to ask what it was that he wanted to tell me.  Get ready cause I'm sure you won't be expecting what happens next cause I sure didn't!

He starts telling me about a girlfriend he had at the age of 16 who broke up with him which broke his heart and how his parents told him that it was because he smothered her.  He now says that he tends to be the opposite and pull away.  He also eluded to the fact that something happened to him when he was younger and now has a very hard time trusting people.

At this point I switched to honesty-mode because, seriously it was painfully obvious that this was going nowhere.  So I dropped some knowledge on him; "You're telling me some parts but not all parts, you may as well tell me everything because I'm pretty sure we will never see each other again and if you want my advice you should take it now."  I did say this in a nice way, if you know me, I honestly wasn't upset and actually wanted to help the guy out.

Here are a few of the key phrases I used while actually giving him some good advice:
"You've got a lot of issues and this is going to cause a lot of problems for you" I also added

"Why didn't you tell me this on the phone? I didn't expect to ever hear from you again. I actually thought you were a drug addict with all your dissapearing texts for days."

Did I mention how happy I was that my seat put me in a prime position to view the Calgary Flames game that was on in the bar? Let's just say that was the only thing besides my wine buzz that saved the evening from being a total waste.

We got separate bills, and I left my money on the table and went to the washroom. When I got back to the table RLB (or, should we now call him RLD - Real Life Disaster) had put a few extra dollars on the table ($3.00). I  asked him if he'd paid and he said that the waitress had come to take his money...but my money was still there.

Moral of the story: I went out with a guy that I met once whom I didn't expect to ever hear from again and he gave me a bunch of crap about things that happened to him half a lifetime ago and then he may (or may not) have stiffed our server.

2011 is looking awesome!!!

Starbucks Friday + Rhianna

Another Starbucks Friday is upon us! (rejoycing may now begin).

Both of us were feeling a little 'blah' this morning so we've closed our office door and pumped the best Rhianna songs that we could find (thanks to grooveshark.com). V's favourite is "what's my name?", and J loves "Only girl in the world". We encourage all readers of this blog to visit the lovely site linked above and rock out.

-10, J

V is currently working on linking her twitter account to this blog, so soon you'll all have unrestricted access to unnecessary, albeit captivating, details about her fabulous life. She's headed to the Legion this weekend which always promises good stories.
Details of my weekend cannot be disclosed at present, on the off chance that a particular friend of mine happens upon this blog and discovers that a surprise event is being held for them and the whole thing is ruined due to my poor judgment. I assure you, details will come on Monday.

+10, V

In one hour I will be leaving work for the day and heading to my home town which is about an hour and a half away from the City I live in.  It is a great little town as far as Town's go.  Both my sisters, two nephews, mom and gramma along with aunts and uncles all live there.

My first stop once I arrive is always a visit with my wonderful gramma and then my mom, sisters and I head to the local legion for $2.25 mug of beer and the oh so famous meat draw.  I am assuming you all know what this is but just in case, here it goes...  The legion buys meat such as pork chops, chicken breast, bacon, etc. and sells tickets for $1.00/each then draw for the lucky winner.

I know this doesn't seem like a whole lotta fun but it has become tradition and it seems so many other thirty somethings I went to school with are there now to.  Saturday nights get even better as they have a blackout bingo game for $1.00 and a meat draw.  Again, super cheap beer and I forgot to mention $3.50 wine spritzers if you want to keep it classy at the Legion.

Well, tonight I am going out with some friends in my town I haven't seen in a while of course this will be after the stop at the Legion so I will keep you posted.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Goodbye, long weekend!

-10, J

V left work early on Friday and later sent an excited text to me (J) with word that RLB and her were texting - but, (what a surprise) he's still not putting much out there. V will have more on that later.
I saw Love and Other Drugs this weekend and, having been warned that it was a more serious rom com, I really enjoyed it. If you think Jake is good looking go see this movie, you will not be disappointed.
Aside from that, I endured roommates playing Call of Duty, and spent a lot of time with relatives, eating their food, all-in-all, a success.

+10, V

As J said, I left work early on Friday and heard nothing from RLB until.... about an hour later.  I was shopping with a friend (A) and then I heard the ringtone.  CANNOT believe it!  later that night I went to watch a wrestling tournament... YES a wrestling tournament for my friends son and then sent RLB a witty text.  He replied with a flirty text.  I was sooo excited and could not believe it!  Are we making progess???

Of course with the way things have gone up until this point, the flirty comeback I sent must have been too witty and thus, lost in translation.

Long story short, today is March 2 and I have not seen RLB since the night I met him and have not sent or recieved a text since February 23.  I have decided this was too painful to keep up a conversation, and let's just be honest... I really don't think he was that interested after all.

No big deal, I think J and I are going to start going out and "doing research" for our new found blog and see what types of adventures we can encounter.  First things first, I have to go get my hair and nails done :)
