Gearing up for the company CHRISTMAS PARTY

Above is a photo of the place that we'll be having the time of our lives soon (i.e. the golf course that our Christmas Party is being held at).

+10, V

Got my nails 'did yesterday at the salon. At $20 it's not a huge surprise that the french manicure is already chipping...guess I'll bust out the white out.

My hair's gettin' 'did  Dec 5 -- gotta get the roots dyed for the par-tay.

Almost done my Christmas shopping -- went for 2 weekends in a row and today I'm going to finish it off.

-10, J

It's already DECEMBER!!! Christmas is so close and I'm very excited.

V told me about this manicure of hers and said "didn't you notice that I'm growing my nails out?!?!".

The next day she said "I like your boots". I've had the boots for 2 weeks, she never noticed.

+10, V

Today at work, we got our first poinsettia. Now we're waiting for the chocolates and cookies to roll in. We try to be especially nice to our receptionist so that we get first dibs on all the gifts that come into the office -- no one wants to be left with the cherry centered chocolate.

Caramel is where it's at!

I've been eating healthy all week in anticipation of these chocolates. If I eat healthy for 6 days in a row I can have 6 chocolates every time a box comes in. Right?

-10, J

I'll keep you all posted on the number of complaints that I get that V is feeling "so sick" and all the times she accuses me for her sickness by saying "why did you let me eat all those chocolates?"

+10, V

Still loving the jacket.

Sex Bomb

-10, J

This is what V was singing today.

I don't have anything more to say.

+10, V

My mom used to love this song. I swear that's the only reason I know it, I'm not old enough to be a Tom Jones fan.

SHOW STOPPER 2012

 +10, V

Isn't it beautiful?

7.5' tall. 10 light settings. Love it.

Apparently my ceiling is 8'.

I opted to decorate with ornaments that I already had, gifts from over the years and such. It's possibly the best SHOW STOPPER yet.

New Jacket

+10, V

Everyone around the office is LOVING my new jacket (but not as much as I do). Since I'm freezing today I guess I'll just have to wear it all day long, oh darn. Normally I'd just steal someone's space heater but J is having hot flashes and it just makes sense to wear the coat all day. Really, it does. I promise.

-10, J

This morning as we drove to work V said "I think I'm getting a chest cold". It's time to start a tally because it feels like she says some variation of this every day.

Just got back from a trip to Calgary to visit my friend, M. It was great.

+10, V: I was sick with a cold last week.

-10, J: That's true.

"I have something to tell you, and you can't say anything..."

-10, J

The title of this post is what V said to me this morning. Knowing where she'd gone on the night of her birthday (and guessing that she'd gotten pretty loaded while she was there), I was pretty concerned about what this confession was.

To be honest, I wasn't even sure that I wanted to hear whatever she had to say next.

Watched White Irish Drinkers this weekend. It's a lot like that Ben Affleck movie where they rob banks, but it didn't have as much budget.

If you go to 1:17 of this clip, you'll see what my roommate tried to reinact this weekend...minus the person considering suicide...really, just the song. It was awesome.

+10, V

So there I am, second row, screaming (and I mean screaming) at the cowboy who was undressing before my eyes. By the end he was fully undressed. Only a few do that, so my eyes were really glued to the stage. Only after the show was over and I saw him fully clothed at the DJ booth did I recognize him as a guy from the small town where I grew up. I put a lot of thought into whether or not I should go over and see if it really was him.  After standing and staring for at least a full minute, I couldn't do it.  Turns out I didn't have to cause he came up to me and said "I thought I recognized you"  I was mortified and could only respond as my drunk self would allow in total shock "Oh my god, I screamed for you...I didn't know it was you. Well at least you have a big weiner, good for you."

He and I are bbm friends now and he texted me throughout the weekend. It's getting weird, I think I'm going to delete him.

Went 'home' to my small town this weekend and got tanked. Wasn't able to eat until 5pm yesterday. I've got to quit this. In fact, I've asked J to keep me accountable.

-10, J

V's confession was "I feel like I'm about to get sick".

This would have a lot more impact if you knew that she has been saying this for the past three weeks.

V's BIRTHDAY!

-10, J

Is there anything wrong with V using Bieber's "Under the Mistletoe" album to pump herself up for the helicopter show tonight?

(Full disclosure: I got her the album. After purchasing it I looked at the cashier and said "this isn't going to beep when I walk out of here, is it? I really can't handle being accused of stealing a Justin Bieber CD".)

+10, V

IT'S MY BIRTHDAY!

30+ posts on my fb wall make me the most popular person that I know, no big deal.

My roomie got me "Under the Mistletoe" and we've been grooving to JB's sweet voice all day. While we were in line for Birthday Starbucks this morning I found another birthday twin (we already knew about another person in the office, A, who shares this special birthday day with me).

Unfortunatly RIM isn't honouring this day the way that they should -- fb on my blackberry isn't working :( .
I'm goin' get ma herr did in half an hour -- so I'll be all ready for tonight. If you see a crazy lady in the front row oogling (i.e. screaming) over the cop, that's me.

I LOVE YOU JUSTIN BIEBER!

V's Birthday Month!

If it isn't already, November should be a highly anticipated holiday month because the lovely and talented V celebrates her birthday!

+10, V

If I didn't feel like a grown up already, I do now, because of something I did last night.

Are you ready for this? (you should be sitting down).

Last night I....(wait for it)...stopped following Justin Bieber on twitter. This is a big step for me. I appreciate your support. After he visited our city, I've been suffering from a particularly potent case of Bieber Fever, hopefully the side effects of day dreams and mentioning Justin's name in random conversation will subside soon.

-10, J

My guess is that she'll start following the Biebs some time in the next 2 weeks, following Boston Rob's tweets just won't be entertaining enough. Plus, he's about to release a Christmas album.

Only two more days before we start listening to Christmas music, our first choices are:
Among many, many others.

Boo!

Happy Halloween!

+10 went as a very professional looking ladybug (she had meetings)

-10 made the following sign:

+10, V

Went to a social where the couple got married -- kind of cool.

No kids at the apartment building, so no cute costumes to look at :(

-10, J

One of my best friends from Calgary was visiting for the weekend and we hung out and ate great food.

Now, off to buy deeply discounted candy!

Gobble Gobble

-10, J

Why isn't every weekend three days long? It's so much better to have that extra day.

Went out to my friend's cabin for Saturday night -- so relaxing, so nice to get out of the city. Autumn is a really beautiful time of year.

On HP movie #4. The first 2 were really hard to get through and I ended up watching them in clips because I got so bored. They're getting better. I'm noticing more plot holes as I watch the movies. Honestly, who keeps polyjuice potion around in the massive quantitites that would be necessary to impersonate Mad Eye for an entire school year? I mean, come on.

+10, V

Felt like I was a -10 on Saturday night when I played drinking games and ended up throwing up...a lesson that my +10 self should have learned by now.

Randomly yelled at some people (in a funny way though. promise). Got mad at some kid for not knowing my name...then called him by the wrong name...

Ended up watching Bonanza with my grandma on Friday night...felt more like a ++10.

Made my first Turkey dinner with my sister, totally lucked out by not having to stick my hand in the turkey. I think she felt bad for me because I'd thrown up the night before.

This weekend I have a wedding to go to. Still need to find a halloween costume.

7.5'

+10, V

What's 7.5' tall, makes me giddy, and can be purchased at Costco for $114.95 (+taxes)?

MY NEW CHRISTMAS TREE. That's right, the Show Stopper this year is going to be bigger than ever. I'll post pics when it's up. Speaking of which, any guesses as to when that will be? Last year it was early November...but I'm not sure I can wait that long I'm so excited!!

Fortune Telling

-10, J

Last week V ate some timbits on Friday morning and nearly all afternoon I heard things like "Why did you let me eat those?" "Oh, I feel so sick" ... et cetera. You would think that seven short days later she'd remember the cause and effect situation but it's only 8:21am and she's already had one. I'm predicting a repeat of last week, and will take video footage as proof.

Off to a cabin this weekend -- the weather has been fantastic and getting out of the city will be great.

+10, V

Goin' to Mo-town this weekend...probably play some drinking games. My sisters and I are going to try to cook a Thanksgiving meal (unsupervised)...probably won't work out.

27 sleeps before my b-day (still plenty of time to get me a gift).

Still need to find a halloween costume -- any original suggestions would be great.

Did a self-diagnosed detox for the past few weekends and kept things low key. Did a massive clean of my apartment after drinking pepsi too late in the evening. Living the dream.

Question: would you date someone who is missing an appendage? (no, not the really important one)

STARBUCKS FRIDAY

SURPRISE! We're posting :)

-10, J

3 months until Christmas Eve Eve. Thought I'd start shopping after I realized the 4 month landmark...that never happened.

Another one of my friends got engaged last weekend what a surprise. That brings next summer's count of weddings-of-people-that-I-love to 4. Seriously, this is an epidemic.

Got new roommates; I highly recommend roommates who enjoy baking and/or cooking.

+10, V

Remember that one time in Vegas?....

(what's that? I didn't tell you that MY LIFELONG GOAL OF GOING TO LAS VEGAS HAS COME TRUE?!?!!?

no big deal.)

...when I saw a prostitute getting arrested and tried to take her picture and she yelled at me saying "THAT'S ILLEGAL!!!".

...when I danced at Coyote Ugly.

...when I went zip-lining across Freemont Street.

...when I stayed in the same hotel that Donny and Marie Osmond were performing at (but didn't spot them).

...when I missed my facebook so much that I blurted out my fb updates to anyone who would listen.

...when I got Las Vegas blisters so I had to buy new shoes and got crocs and THOSE gave me blisters. So, that was awesome.

...when I was disappointed that I didnt' see "Thunder from Down Under".

...when I bought a bottle of Bailey's for $23. Which I'm going to drink throughout this upcoming weekend.

Guess what today is ...

-10, J

Guess what today is ... 4 MONTHS UNTIL CHRISTMAS! V put a sign up on our door today to let everyone know. She also began singing carols. The sign was enough to solicit several sets of rolling eyes...the carols were even less welcome.

4 cabins in 4 weeks treated me well -- I've really got to get one of those someday. Can't believe that the summer is nearly through. I'm on HP book 7, still gearing up for my movie marathon.

Read "The Help" this summer, hoping to see the movie sooner rather than later. I started crushing on Emma Stone when I first saw "Easy A".

Dear Summer,

Does this really have to be over so soon? I thought we had something special...

Unplanned hiatus

We're so sorry and blah blah blah about not posting.

-10, J

I recently celebrated my birthday with a bunch of friends and champagne and dancing at the club, it was excellent. Soon I head out on my very first train trip to visit a friend and spend some time at the cabin...the work day always seems longer when a vacation is so close.

My Harry Potter summer is off to an excellent start. Last night I finished book 2 (only 5 more to go!...there are 7...right?).

V and I saw Water for Elephants this week. I'd recommend it.

+10,V

Okay, so besides Macho Man Randy Savage dying, Sean Kingston has got into a sea doo accident, Ryan Dunn from Jackass has died, and Zsa Zsa Gabor drank Champagne on hear deathbead to celebrate her husbands 68th birthday.

Now real life... Still walking to work and getting faster every day.  I have met a new person who is a Chef!  That's right a Chef!  For those of you who know me personally know why this is such a big deal... I am not much of a cook and don't like touching raw chicken at all!  Just friends right now and seeing if there is more there.  Will definitely keep you posted.

Not sure if I told you about the new game I learned a few weekends ago... Beer darts, that's right just like it sounds.  You shake up a beer can and the other team throws a dart in it and then you have to shotgun it.  I don't recommend using lime beer for this as it takes a while to get a dart in the can and sometimes the beer gets warm.

I will probably not drink lime beer again this summer!  Hope I have more exciting news to tell you soon :)

Another Celebrity Gone!!!

Well, I hate to be the one to break it to you guys but I just found out that Macho Man Randy Savage is DEAD!  (He was a wrestler for all you -10's)

What tragic news to get on a Friday of a long weekend!  Other than that, nothing to report except it is now supposed to RAIN ALL WEEKEND.... BOO!!!

Thursday, May 19, 2011

Wow... It sure has been a long time!

+10, V

It sure has been crazy around here lately!!!

So sorry for not updating in such a long time.  Things have been really busy at work.  Nothing exciting has happened in my personal life, however on Friday, May 6 I had the best night ever partying with a bunch of twenties in my home town.  Have you ever played Beer Pong?

We had a tournament in someones garage, which is really not a garage it is more like a pimped out man cave.  I had just arrived to see my sister and ten minutes later I was paired up with a hippy looking twenty something from BC to play Beer Pong.  Seriously so fun!  I will definitely play that again.

When I say nothing has been going on in my personal life, I mean NOTHING!  I have now been living in this province for almost a year and only one thing happened to me and that was meeting that stupid idiot which I had to counsel.  Not a great year!

Anyway, I have been walking to and from work and feel really great about that.  -10, J and I still keep our Starbucks Friday traditions though, so I don't walk that morning.  This weekend is a long weekend and again I really don't have anything exciting planned.  I was going to go camping but that fell through and it is now supposed to rain anyway.  I think I will go back to my hometown and do some afternoon patio time with my sisters.  Hopefully there will be another matchup of Beer Pong!

We feel terrible...

-10, J

Correspondence isn't supposed to begin with an apology, so I'll save that for the middle somewhere.

Everything has been crazy busy lately. I don't even remember what was all going on the last time we posted, but I'll just pick up from right where I'm at and hope that you can keep up.

Last weekend I celebrated Easter with family there was a lot of food and it was lovely.

I also ended up with a sun burn after lying in the sun. Note to self: never forget sun screen.

This summer I have issued myself a challenge: To read the entire Harry Potter series and then have a Harry Potter movie marathon. I read the first book for an English class in university, but never got into the whole thing, since the final film in the series comes out this summer I think it's about time I jump on the bandwagon. Does anyone have book 1 for me to borrow?

Work has been busier than ever. I sort of hate it. But today is ok. I'm sorry for not posting more often, my bad.

Spring Fever!

+10, V
Hello Everyone.

Today is Tuesday, April 5 and I am now on my second week of eating healthy and on my second day of walking to and from work.  Well, actually I am not walking home today because I have the worst shin splints!  I am out of shape, but not that bad.  I walked to and from work all last summer up until the middle of December when the snow hit.  Now that I am older and still single I thought it would be a good idea to try to be healthier.  I have a friend who joined weight watchers and already lost five pounds in two weeks but I don't think I am as dedicated as she is.

This weekend my Mom came for a visit on Saturday and I made a crock pot of chili in the morning, went shopping in the afternoon, watched the movie "get him to the greek" (super stupid), and then went to the casino for a few hours of bingo.  Don't worry, my weekends will surely spice up now that the weather is nicer and patio season will begin.  Hopefully a lot of you will join me for my beloved patio drinks.

Today I am going to the doctor to refill my birth control prescription in the hopes... I mean in case I am faced with a situation of lust so there will not be any unplanned pregnancies.  Or if you know me I like to say: in case I ever fall on a ween I will be prepared :)

I am also having my Tuesday night get together with my friend (CC) and am looking forward to it since she was away last week.  She better of brought me my magnet!  Yes, I collect magnets from different places, please don't judge me.  It's the one thing you can collect that doesn't add clutter.

Finally, my favourite show Vampire Diaries is back on the air this Tuesday!  I am so looking forward to seeing Damon Salvatore back on the big screen.  I love him so much on the show and then followed him on twitter and it turns out he is a cat lover and animal activist.  I do not consider myself a mean person but I HATE cats and think there are better things to focus your energy on than animals.  Now, now, don't send me any hate comments cause it's not like that.  I'm just really not a pet person.

-10, J

Let's just say that I can no longer claim to have never been in a limo while in a full Richard-Simmons-esque outfit, which ended up being more '80's aerobics-esque, complete with off-the-shoulder baggy shirts and fluorescent pink socks. We got the limo (and went through with the theme) for my friend's birthday on Friday and it was absolutely hilarious. People were crowd surfing, music was loud...and then we went to the club. All-around an excellent night.

Saturday night I saw "Lincoln Lawyer" which I went into with very low expectations and left pleasantly surprised. If you're in the mood for a legal drama I'd recommend it. Reminded me of a John Grisham book-into-movie...sort of a "Runaway Jury" vibe but more intense).

Sunday lunch was with several lovely people. And then I spent some quality time with Zach and Natalie (i.e. main characters in "Garden State", an excellent recommendation).

Have you ever had a conversation with a friend about a problem and felt that they understood exactly what you were describing (in an honest way, not a yeah-sure-I'll-nod-my-head-so-you-shut-up-soon way). It's really nice when that happens.

Steve, Mike...does it make a difference?

-10, J

So there are these two guys, Steve and Mike. Both of them like me, but neither one seems to care about me as a person. You know the kind of guy that just wants to win the girl because then they'll have beat some other guy? Both of them seem like that and it's childish. I don't want a boy, I want a man! The worst part is that they're constantly talking about how the other one is stupid and doesn't deserve me (one of the most unattractive qualities I've ever experienced).

Do they have such low self-esteem that they can't find good qualities about themselves? I mean, come on, if you like me so much, prove that you're worth a commitment. I know some other girls that are in this situation and they've backed away from both guys because they get bored, but I really want a relationship.

I know that Steve and Mike each only want one thing from me, but I'm going to need some serious attention before I give it up to them; my vote doesn't come cheap.

So, what's a girl to do? Either Steve or Mike is going to have to bring his game to the next level, otherwise I'll have to go for this third guy, Jack, he seems ok...but I might be wasting my time. My last resort is dumping the men altogether to be with this girl, Liz. Who knows, maybe a little experimenting is just what I need.

+10, V
Well, Nothing exciting to report.  I have spent the last few evenings at home catching up on my PVR recordings.  On Wednesday J came over as we had plans to cook a few different meals.  These plans were made about a week ahead of time so once the day came and I worked a crazy busy day and we left late... I really didn't want to do it.  If you know me, I would much rather go out for dinner than make one at home.

It's just that it is so much work to cook for one person and then you have a ton of left overs which I get sick of fast.  Anyway, with a bit of a push, J convinced me on making the meal.  I got my way with only making one meal though :)  She is a good cook!  I boiled the pasta and cut peppers.

This weekend is going to be pretty boring!  Not much going on tonight, having my mom come over on Saturday and going to the Casino to play bingo.  Yup now that's the boring weekend of a thirty something :)

Celebrity Death Watch

+10, V

Good Morning :)

Well today is no different than any other day.  I get to work and quickly check my favourites, The shopping channel, TMZ because I am on the celebrity death watch of Zsa zsa Gabour.  No... I am not weird or anything, I just like to keep up on my celebrity news.  Speaking of which, Charlie Sheen has been pretty darn quiet these days.  It's really to bad!  I thought he was going to have a head shaving moment like Britney.

Anyway, this morning while checking my hotmail I went to my junkmail folder only to find some great spam such as, Penis Growth Free trials - Grow a long and hard one today, Sample mens supplement - Your love tool is set to thrill and last but not least, Enlarge with sample - she revealed herself to me.  I really think the spam senders should take it up a notch and try to send gender specific spam.

Well, last night was Tuesday and that means I usually have my friend (CC) come over but this week she is site seeing and shopping in the states.  with not much else to do I watched some PVR'd episodes of Chelsea Lately.  I honestly forgot how great her show is.  I know, I know (CS) you are probably freaking out because you tried to get me to watch this show forever.  It was always on way to late for this thirty something so know that I have a PVR there is no limits on what I can watch.

Not too much planned for this weekend, I really need to take it easy and not drink so much so I have decided to have my mother come in and visit.  Here is a little insight to how old I really am.... We are most likely going to go to the casino and play bingo on Saturday night.

Yes, this could be a huge reason as to why I am still single!

-10, J

We did circuit training at boot camp lat night. I'm right handed and my left arm is notably weaker than my right arm. I'd never really noticed that until I was asked to do identical exercises on each side. I feel a little silly saying it but after only 4 sessions I actually feel stronger.

This Friday is shaping up to be hilarious. My friend is having a Richard Simmon's themed club night. Ever been to a club dressed up in fluorescent Lycra while everyone else is dressed to impress? It's awesome.

No new news about TB (texting boy...is that what I named him?...well, it's what he is now). I guess I'm waiting for him to initiate some sort of real life contact...we've never even met.

Tonight is V and my cooking date...hopefully we don't burn down her building.

The Busy Blogger

+10,V
Hey everyone, so sorry for not blogging last week.  I was sick on Monday and wasn't at work... No really, I was not well and a good friend of mine (C) came by and brought me some medicine, fruit and soup.  I really appreciated that.  I was actually already sick on Sunday.  By Monday night I felt much better and had to catch up for the missing day on Tuesday.  Everyday after that just seemed to be as busy and then the next thing I know it was Friday.

So let's start out with last weekend March 18 - 19.  On Friday I went home after work and relaxed for a while.  My friend (A) came by and picked me up and I ended up staying over the night and drinking an entire bottle of home made wine that night.  Thank you my married friends (K&T)  It was so delicious and over the entire night but OUCH did I pay for it the next day.  You really need to hydrate regularly if you go on a wine binge.

Saturday was another fun night in which I was in the company of quite a few ++10's.  I have to say that I think those women are crazy!!! I was worried about what was going to happen to me in another 10 years but after going to that garage party on Saturday and seeing those ladies in action, I have nothing to worry about.

Okay, like I said the week after that at work was really busy.  Now for this weekend March 25 - 27.

Went to a hockey game on Friday, went out for drinks after and then finally made it home around 1:30 a.m.  Saturday was a social where the only booze left at midnight was rye.  I really think I better stop drinking so much.  I think I really have to take it easy this upcoming weekend.

Starting today, I have decided I am going to eat much healthier.  I actually made this decision last week and made sure to eat a bunch or terrible food this weekend as it will be a while before I eat it again like that.  Let's hope it works.  I am not following a specific plan at this point but am going with the old eat more fruits and veggies, lean meats and little carbs.  If I can't seem to make it work and get nowhere then I will end up signing up for a more disciplined plan.

So far day one is a 6" turkey sub on whole wheat with a side of carrots and strawberries.  I know this is not a lot of food so far but I have a lot of other veggies planned for tonight with my dinner.

-10, J

Friday night I went out with some girls. One of my roommates texted me to say that she had interesting news for me... she told me that a guy from her work was interested in me. Bottom line is that he doesn't know me at all, but she was talking about me blah blah blah.

So, when her and I and some other people went out later that night I was persuaded (though it didn't take much) to send him a text (he had given my roommate his number to give to me...). No response that evening. burn. I looked him up on facebook and I seriously love open profiles. They're awesome.

Saturday I slept in late and early afternoon I got a RESPONSE! He apologized for not texting back the night before but explained that he had to work early blah blah blah. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. TB (Texting Boy, I'll call him) and I kept up the text conversation from early afternoon to early morning. My day was filled with cooking and reading and going to a party, but we were texting back-and-forth all that time. We'll see if this leads anywhere. I was explaining all this to a friend of mine and she asked to see his fb profile and I signed on and he'd requested me as a friend.

We'll see how that all goes.

Boot camp is going well so far...I'm guessing tonight will be painful again, but it's a good kind of pain.

Coming Soon: V and I are cooking together this Wednesday -- should lead to a fun post

She's Back!

-10, J

How many jumping jacks can you do in a minute?

Doesn't sound that difficult to figure out, right? Well, it's not, but when you also are asked to find out how many crunches and push ups and squat jacks and a whole bunch of other stuff that I can't remember you can do in a minute you might experience the sensation of not being able to move certain parts of your body.

At least that's what happened to me. I actually don't remember doing the squat jacks...I literally blocked it out, which I've decided is just fine. If I can get fitter and not even remember the pain I'm cool with that. I'm enrolled in a 4 week class so you fine people that read this blog will get your fair share of my reflections on this odd phenomena of a multi-generational group of women who meet in a church gym to receive instruction from someone who refers to herself as "Sargent" (although most certainly has no military background).

+10, V

Elizabeth Taylor died this week...you just never know when a celebrity is going to pass on.

-10, J

V has been so busy this week that she hasn't had time to write much of anything at all...she'll have to make up big time next week. Last night she had a dream that her and I were in a car accident which is scary...speaking of which, has anyone seen "Black Swan"? I saw about 10 minutes of it when some people were watching it in my apartment and I walked away because I was afraid that it would give me nightmares. Is it actually that scary, or is the build-up worse than the real thing?

V Withdrawl

-10, J

V sent me a text this morning to say that she was sick and wouldn't be coming to work today.

The hours have never dragged on so long.

I am having sympathy sickness (you know, when someone you know is sick so you also start feeling sick...). Anyway, maybe I'll have to stay home from work tomorrow to give V a taste of her own medicine.

My weekend report is bland (I can hear V's sarcastic voice "what a surprise"). A friend's birthday party on Friday night, dinner and a movie with friends on Saturday ("Just go with it" will make you wonder how Jennifer Anaston still looks so good). Oh, did I mention that the theatre was PACKED? Who knew this flick would be so popular? I'm not talking about packed like that time you went to see the Star Trek premiere (yes, I did that). I mean my friends and I literally sat in the front row. The image is significantly distorted from that angle.

The movie itself was fine, pretty much exactly what you'd expect. The screening began about 10 minutes later than it should have, because something was wrong with the projector. So, bonus, we didn't have to sit through the pre-show and we did get to see all the sweet trailers. Then double bonus we got a ticket to see a free movie. All things considered, a successful evening.

Maybe V will post an update from home...I have no idea how her weekend was *hint hint*.

Happy Monday!

Emergency Update

-10, J

I'm issuing this emergency update because V is laughing so hard at herself she's crying and snorting.

I would not make this up.

She has recorded herself speaking in an "Irish Accent" (which has been mistaken for East Indian) and has sent it to various people via BBM.

V just looked at a piece of cheese and practically fell on the floor laughing.

Now she's talking about giving prizes to people in the office who have the best Irish Accent and Leprechaun Impression.

There is a good chance that I'll 'forget' to pick her up on my way to work tomorrow.

New Boyfriend for J

+10, V
Nate Dogg is dead. D-E-A-D, dead. This is exactly why I check TMZ every day, I must know about any celebrity deaths (even the ones that are far far far from A-list). I thought it was bad enough that Mike Star (from Celebrity rehab) died, but now the Nate Dogg? I may have to take some time off.

In other news, I'm getting really excited for ST. PATRICK'S DAY, we've had shamrock window clings up for weeks now. The Easter ones will go up Friday. I'm running Shamrock Bingo out of the office at noon hour, and I've purchased gear for -10 and me (I'm making her wear it). I'm working on my Leprechaun accent (side note by -10, this is one of the more annoying sounds you will ever hear), and my Riverdance.

I'm just basically getting over the Bachelor finale. I'm so glad that he picked Emily.

*SPOILER ALERT* I heard next season's bachelorette is Ashley the dentist.

Tonight I'm excited to see my boyfriend, Boston Rob. This season's pool has 11 contestants and is going strong.

Basically nothing much else going on right now, the weather is finally warming up and I'm looking forward to getting out more and finding you all a new boyfriend for me to write about.

-10, J
It's true, there's a new man in my life. Ok, let's be honest, we've never met, and we live hundreds of kilometers away from each other but, why not flirt a bit?
We met in your typical fairy tale manner...I was a damsel in distress and he was my night in shining armour...it was magical...
So far there's nothing exciting to report about it other than the fact that I've dubbed him NB (New Boyfriend).

---

The day has started much the same as any other day...V checked The Shopping Channel (which has a super spy-esque scanner as today's show stopper), and TMZ to see if there are any new celebrity deaths.

J has added to her list of must-check deal websites:
  • WagJag.com
  • DealFind.com &
  • Kijiji Deal of the Day

+10, V

Found out yesterday one of my favourite people is coming to visit for Easter. Can't wait to go out Thursday night. Those of you who know me know exactly what's involved in Thursday nights. That will be one hell of a blog.

Weekend Report

-10, J

The trouble with surprise group events is that you have to trust a lot of people to keep their mouths shut.
Happily, the Friday surprise worked out well and we all enjoyed the martini bar followed by bowling (seriously, bowling is fun - glo bowling is even better).
If you're looking for a new TV show you should try Portlandia. Some episodes are much better than others, but who knows...maybe you'll fall in love and accept Portlandia for its weaknesses as well as its strengths.

Now that we've gotten J's boring weekend out of the way I have BIG TIME news about RLB. (Are you sitting down?...you probably are, but if you're not, you should).
As you know I visited my hometown this weekend and just after my friend and I got back into city limits I got a text from (you guessed it) RLB. I know, right? He was totally MIA for a week and a half (which, let's face it, is closer to 2 months in new-relationship-time). But, regardless, he asked me what I was up to that evening and IF I WANTED TO GET TOGETHER.
(pause for dramatic effect)

He actually used a question mark. This is uncharted behaviour for RLB so, naturally my interest was piqued. We texted back-and-forth a bit and after explaining that he wanted to talk about why he went MIA we agreed to meet at a restaurant near my apartment.

I had 2.5 hours to prepare myself so I got in touch with several of my girls (including J, of course) and I managed to determine appropriate attire, footwear, hairstyle, and several hypothetical reasons that he might give me.  I have to say that my friend A who was with me the first night I met RLB stated that she really didn't think I would like him and that I did have a bit to drink that night.

The time (7pm) finally came and I braved the cold to go meet RLB after two glasses of wine.

As soon as I got there and saw him I almost died!!!  He had blue faded jeans, white runners (not the cool kind) and a blue faded zip up hoodie with a soccer ball and the number 49 on it.  He also was not wearing a ball cap like the first time we met and let me say that he was in dire need of a haircut.

We sat down, ordered drinks and began small talk.  I will say that besides his clothing choice and hair he does really have a cute smile and nice eyes.  That just isn't enough for me though.

So... small talk, blah, blah, blah, another drink ordered blah, blah, blah and I decide to ask what it was that he wanted to tell me.  Get ready cause I'm sure you won't be expecting what happens next cause I sure didn't!

He starts telling me about a girlfriend he had at the age of 16 who broke up with him which broke his heart and how his parents told him that it was because he smothered her.  He now says that he tends to be the opposite and pull away.  He also eluded to the fact that something happened to him when he was younger and now has a very hard time trusting people.

At this point I switched to honesty-mode because, seriously it was painfully obvious that this was going nowhere.  So I dropped some knowledge on him; "You're telling me some parts but not all parts, you may as well tell me everything because I'm pretty sure we will never see each other again and if you want my advice you should take it now."  I did say this in a nice way, if you know me, I honestly wasn't upset and actually wanted to help the guy out.

Here are a few of the key phrases I used while actually giving him some good advice:
"You've got a lot of issues and this is going to cause a lot of problems for you" I also added

"Why didn't you tell me this on the phone? I didn't expect to ever hear from you again. I actually thought you were a drug addict with all your dissapearing texts for days."

Did I mention how happy I was that my seat put me in a prime position to view the Calgary Flames game that was on in the bar? Let's just say that was the only thing besides my wine buzz that saved the evening from being a total waste.

We got separate bills, and I left my money on the table and went to the washroom. When I got back to the table RLB (or, should we now call him RLD - Real Life Disaster) had put a few extra dollars on the table ($3.00). I  asked him if he'd paid and he said that the waitress had come to take his money...but my money was still there.

Moral of the story: I went out with a guy that I met once whom I didn't expect to ever hear from again and he gave me a bunch of crap about things that happened to him half a lifetime ago and then he may (or may not) have stiffed our server.

2011 is looking awesome!!!

Starbucks Friday + Rhianna

Another Starbucks Friday is upon us! (rejoycing may now begin).

Both of us were feeling a little 'blah' this morning so we've closed our office door and pumped the best Rhianna songs that we could find (thanks to grooveshark.com). V's favourite is "what's my name?", and J loves "Only girl in the world". We encourage all readers of this blog to visit the lovely site linked above and rock out.

-10, J

V is currently working on linking her twitter account to this blog, so soon you'll all have unrestricted access to unnecessary, albeit captivating, details about her fabulous life. She's headed to the Legion this weekend which always promises good stories.
Details of my weekend cannot be disclosed at present, on the off chance that a particular friend of mine happens upon this blog and discovers that a surprise event is being held for them and the whole thing is ruined due to my poor judgment. I assure you, details will come on Monday.

+10, V

In one hour I will be leaving work for the day and heading to my home town which is about an hour and a half away from the City I live in.  It is a great little town as far as Town's go.  Both my sisters, two nephews, mom and gramma along with aunts and uncles all live there.

My first stop once I arrive is always a visit with my wonderful gramma and then my mom, sisters and I head to the local legion for $2.25 mug of beer and the oh so famous meat draw.  I am assuming you all know what this is but just in case, here it goes...  The legion buys meat such as pork chops, chicken breast, bacon, etc. and sells tickets for $1.00/each then draw for the lucky winner.

I know this doesn't seem like a whole lotta fun but it has become tradition and it seems so many other thirty somethings I went to school with are there now to.  Saturday nights get even better as they have a blackout bingo game for $1.00 and a meat draw.  Again, super cheap beer and I forgot to mention $3.50 wine spritzers if you want to keep it classy at the Legion.

Well, tonight I am going out with some friends in my town I haven't seen in a while of course this will be after the stop at the Legion so I will keep you posted.

Have a great weekend everyone :)

Goodbye, long weekend!

-10, J

V left work early on Friday and later sent an excited text to me (J) with word that RLB and her were texting - but, (what a surprise) he's still not putting much out there. V will have more on that later.
I saw Love and Other Drugs this weekend and, having been warned that it was a more serious rom com, I really enjoyed it. If you think Jake is good looking go see this movie, you will not be disappointed.
Aside from that, I endured roommates playing Call of Duty, and spent a lot of time with relatives, eating their food, all-in-all, a success.

+10, V

As J said, I left work early on Friday and heard nothing from RLB until.... about an hour later.  I was shopping with a friend (A) and then I heard the ringtone.  CANNOT believe it!  later that night I went to watch a wrestling tournament... YES a wrestling tournament for my friends son and then sent RLB a witty text.  He replied with a flirty text.  I was sooo excited and could not believe it!  Are we making progess???

Of course with the way things have gone up until this point, the flirty comeback I sent must have been too witty and thus, lost in translation.

Long story short, today is March 2 and I have not seen RLB since the night I met him and have not sent or recieved a text since February 23.  I have decided this was too painful to keep up a conversation, and let's just be honest... I really don't think he was that interested after all.

No big deal, I think J and I are going to start going out and "doing research" for our new found blog and see what types of adventures we can encounter.  First things first, I have to go get my hair and nails done :)

Breaking Blogcast:

RLB texted back aprox. 30 mins. ago saying that he will be in the city this weekend and asked +10 what she is doing.

This might end up going somewhere after all!!!

We'll keep you up to date as things progress.

Any suggestions, people?

Feb 16-18

OMB (oh my Bieber), we are so sorry for not keeping you updated these past few days, please forgive us.

The 15th, Tuesday

+10, V
Heard nothing from RLB, not even a text! However, I did know that he was going out with the boys. Still was hoping for a text, maybe a "hey, how's it going?"...but got nothing. Dissapointed. Starting to feel unsure about this.
Was excited the first couple of days but now I'm worried. Is he just a stupid boy, or is he not interested? [is this normal?]

The 16th, Wednesday

-10, J
Worked late and got home to find a living room full of people just starting the movie Step Up 3. Acting: brutal; Dancing: unreal. Watching it reminded me of one of my life goals: to walk into a club with a group of people and bust out a choreographed dance routine. That would be "off the chain". [ps. loved the soundtrack].

+10, V
So I was getting impatient after not hearing anything from RLB so I thought I would take it upon myself with many suggestions from other friends to send him a text.  I sent a good morning, how was your night text and got a one liner back.  Tried with another questions, same thing... Then, an hour and a half later I received a random one liner and decided not to say anything back.  This is not exciting.  The last one liner from RLB came about 12:30 p.m.  Boo!

In other news, this was the first episode of season...like 100, of SURVIVOR, and my boyfriend Boston Rob is back so excited. As soon as he stepped off the helicopter I couldn't stop smiling. If RLB isn't going to step up, at least I have Boston Rob to keep me happy on a weekly basis.

The 17th, Thursday

Hilight: Today we were celeb-named by a co-worker, who joined our names in the Brangelina fashion. If we were sharing our names on this blog we promise you'd be impressed with the combination.
+10, V
Well, this morning I was really dissapointed that I did not receive any texts from RLB.  Really not sure what is going on and hate feeling this way.  There should be some excitement right???  I am discussing this with      -10 all morning and we decide to leave it for him to make the first move now.  I think I have tried hard enough to keep the conversation going by constantly asking questions.  If he was interested wouldn't he ask questions???  I was told he was shy but really...

Okay, 2:00 p.m. and I get a ramdom one liner how tomorrow is finally Friday.  I wait half an hour (this is advice from a ++10) and then respond with how excited I am and I might even take the afternoon off.            NO RESPONSE since.  Seriously people what do I do??? Do you think he really is shy?  I was expecting more than this!  There has not even been anything flirty happen since the night I met him.  I think I am losing interest.

-10, J
Sitting at the arrivals gate at the airport always make me think of Love Actually. Although the real thing isn't quite as touching, and the people aren't nearly as good looking [side note: it's shocking how many people opt to take an escalator over a set of stairs, come on people! A little exercise won't kill you. It's not like they're walking down the escalator either, they're just getting on and standing. Which reminds me of this clip which I saw at Cannes Lions, love it].
Dinner was pizza and wine with friends, it was fantastic.

STARBUCKS FRIDAY (the 18th)

We go to Starbucks every friday before work, it's excellent. Venti nonfat Caramel Macchiato for V, Tall Chai Latte for J. The barristas have started recognizing us and it feels very chic to be a regular somewhere...does once a week count as a regular?

+10, V
Happy Friday!!! Well, it is still early in the day but for the sake of the blog at 9:00 a.m. I sent RLB a text saying Happy Friday and asked what he was doing this weekend... It is now 11:15 p.m. and NOTHING!

PS. PEOPLE WHO ARE MY FACEBOOK FRIENDS... DO NOT MENTION THE BLOG OR MY RLB AS HE IS A FRIEND OF MINE ON FACEBOOK!!!

The Day after V-Day/Piazza De Nardi

First thing's first: obviously.

Today when J picked up V (we carpool) the first question was how the conversation with RLB went. [At this point we should clarify that RLB is distinct from various fake boyfreinds which are featured on television shows (reality or otherwise) and vampire-themed movies. Also note that RLB is, in fact, not an actual boyfriend...yet].

The paperweight hearts and Dollarama stickers still don our walls...we've already been asked how long they'll stay -- oh I'm sorry, is there a rule about how long hearts can be up? No one told us. One year V had her Christmas tree set up until just before valentines, so we're doing pretty well, all things considered.

Since yesterday was so busy we started off the today looking at our regular sites: V hit up
  • www.theshoppingchannel.com (for the show stopper, today's is an earing and pendant set from "Himalayan Gems" for $79.83 or four easy payments of $19.96, decidedly, funny and not worth our hard-earned cash);
  • www.tmz.com (to check on any celebrity deaths); and,
  • www.theweathernetwork.com (because we don't have a window and want to know what the weather is like).
J looked at
+10,V
Well, with hardly any sleep after being pretty excited about my first texting and HOUR long conversation with RLB, J picked me up for work and I had to tell her all about it.  Did I mention he said Happy Valentines Day twice!!! Once by text and once in real conversation :)

He also said we could get together this week if I wanted, I just had to let him know.  Did I mention it has been almost 2 years!!! I am soooo nervous and want to get the ball rolling to see if it goes anywhere but am also scared too because I don't want it to not work out.  First question... When is it okay to ask him over for movies and a sleep over?  Not a dirty sleep over, I'm not like that!

Second question, Should I text him first today to see how his day is going or do I wait to hear from him?  I don't want to seem crazy right away, but I also want to let him know I am thinking about him.
Wow... I feel like a -10 with all these emotions!

Can't wait to see what happens tonight.  He did say we would DEFINITELY talk today.

-10, J
V has been going non-stop about RLB and I don't blame her. The closest that I've come to having my own RLB lately is a stranger that V met who goes only by his last name (one of those) who sent me scattered texts after she met him during a weekend visit to a nearby town.
After insulting my lunch V suggested that we go to Piazza De Nardi, an indoor market close to our office building. We went and V instantly began planning exactly what she'd buy for her first date night with RLB -- she would insist that she'd slaved all day in the kitchen and couldn't reveal the secret family recipie. I would not put this elaborate scheme past her.

Valentine Girls

Who needs chocolate? Not me.

Who needs flowers? Not V.

Candy is for chumps (who wants another trip to the dentist anyway?).

Our Valentines Day Playlist went over extremely well, starting off with NKOTB’s "Valentine Girl".

The final count for people who came to ask us singles what to get their wives for Valentines Day was 4, our pink and red wigs obviously showed that we were in the Valentine spirit. It's not hard to get creative when you don't have to prepare for evening plans.

+10, V
Well, I was not really looking forward to this night seeing as I have now been single for almost two years!  I used to get huge bouquets of flowers and nice dinners out.  This year, a girlfriend of mine (A) and I went to Moxies on Saturday night for some pasta, enchiladas and wine.  Not the same type of night I would have had 10 years ago.  Anyway, just so happens I ended up meeting someone who I think was really cute, nice and funny and he ended up texting me and then calling me for the first time that night and even said Happy Valentines Day twice!  Not so bad of a night afterall.  Now I just have to figure out how to keep this interesting and learn to date.  I'm going to seriously need all the help I can get.  My -10 friend has been very excited and helpful so far but remember..... There is a decade between us which makes a huge difference :)

-10, J
I knew my night was going really well when V called me to say that she’d gotten a text from her real life boyfriend (RLB).  After V’s call I read through the Real Simple magazine that had arrived in the mail*, and watched the PVR’d episode of Gossip Girl while straightening my hair.  I crawled into bed after facebook stalking my real life crush (RLC).

*Which contained a short article explaining that, it is impossible for facebook users to see who has viewed their profile, all promises of such omniscience are spam.
