V's been hassling me about how we've strayed from our mandate (and, coincidentally, the title of this blog). So, we have a little story for you about the difference a decade makes.

It's true, we barely ever talk about the differences between us. If we want to get on Ellen, we'd better start talking about our original idea.
So, we live where the weather can get pretty cold (see previous post with the weather network screen shot). The other day I went up to J's desk and said, "so...maybe...if you want to...we could go to [insert name of grocery story here] on our way home...?" and J agreed (-10, J of course I agreed, I don't want you to starve!). So, we went. And it was a particularly cold day, the kind where you breathe in and when the cold air hits the back of your throat you have to cough a bit to recover because it's almost choking you. J parked the car and we got out, me in my parka and sorel boots and toque and scarf and mitts and J took off her hat. Seriously?!?!?! It's an unspeakably cold temperature outside and her head is uncovered. That my friends is a major difference that the decade between us makes. When you get to a certain age, staying warm is much more important than looking good.
I guess another difference is the fact that I have Sorel boots and she still wears fashion boots :) The fashion boots do look warm, but not Sorel warm.

I don't deny any part of that story.
In my defense: the hat that I'd grabbed that particular day was a snowboarding hat and there were only about ten steps from my car to the door of the store, so it was unnecessary and I probably would have taken the hat off as soon as we'd gotten in and then set it down when going to pick something else up and then accidently forgotten about it and then gotten all the way home before realizing that my hat was missing and that would have been annoying.
